Bechamel sauce is a sauce traditionally made from a white roux and milk. Bechamel may also be referred to as Beciamella(Italy), Besamel(Greece) or white sauce(U.S.). French, Italian and Greek Bechamel sauce recipes include salt and nutmeg as a seasoning base. (Source - Wikipedia)
I think my recipe is the easiest way how to make Bechamel Sauce.
Try this recipe and taste home-made bechamel.
INGREDIENTS:
- 2 cups of milk
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp flour
- Pinch nutmeg
- 1/2 cup parmesan cheese
METHOD:
- Scald the milk: Get a heavy saucepan and scald the milk over medium heat. Keep it warm over very low.
- Make a roux: Melt the butter in a separate sauce over low heat. When it's budding, add the flour and whisk until it forms a blond roux(golden), about 3 to 4 minutes.
- Add milk: Whisking constantly, add the hot milk in a steady stream. Bring the milk to a gentle simmer and continue to whisk until the sauce thickens, about 10 minutes.
- Whisk: Whisk in the nutmeg and the cheese, and serve at once.
